Two new companies join the India-Sweden Innovation’s Accelerator
For 14 years, this accelerator program has helped Swedish companies grow and succeed in their expansion dreams in India. Now, we welcome two new companies to the program.
India is on a strong rise and has implemented a number of reforms that have contributed to the country’s growth. There is a large demand for sustainable solutions that can emerge quickly, which means good conditions for Swedish companies with innovations in this area.
– The recently signed deal on free trade between the EU and India is expected to have great significance for Swedish exports. This combined with the Swedish Energy Agency’s long experience of cooperation with India, creates even bigger opportunities for Swedish companies to meet the growing demand for sustainable solutions in India, says Edgar Darbinyan, business developer at the Swedish Energy Agency.
In the fall of 2025, the Swedish Energy Agency applied for companies to the program and it is now clear that two new companies have been accepted.
Lixea
Lixea licenses a novel, environmentally friendly biomass refinery technology that unlocks significant value from underutilised waste streams while accelerating the transition to a circular, low-carbon bioeconomy. Its highly efficient ionic liquid–based fractionation process converts woody biomass, agricultural residues, and contaminated waste wood into high-quality renewable feedstocks, including cellulose, lignin, and organic molecules.
These materials enable a wide range of applications, from packaging and textiles to adhesives, glues, and battery anodes. By providing sustainable alternatives to fossil-based raw materials and virgin wood fibre, the technology advances resource efficiency, waste valorisation, and decarbonisation goals.
Waltero
Waltero is a technology company that supports utilities, municipalities and companies in modernizing existing infrastructure by transforming traditional analogue meters into smart, data-driven devices. The company’s battery-powered W-Sensor enables analogue water, energy and gas meters to be upgraded without replacing existing hardware. Additionally, the W-Sensor can be used as a camera in remote areas and locations, e.g., in wastewater tunnels, to monitor for blockages caused by debris.
By combining sensors, communications and cloud services, Waltero’s retrofit solution enhances resource monitoring, enables early leak detection, improves operational efficiency, and supports a reduced environmental impact.
