Lixea

Lixea licenses a novel, environmentally friendly biomass refinery technology that unlocks significant value from underutilised waste streams while accelerating the transition to a circular, low-carbon bioeconomy. Its highly efficient ionic liquid–based fractionation process converts woody biomass, agricultural residues, and contaminated waste wood into high-quality renewable feedstocks, including cellulose, lignin, and organic molecules. These materials enable a wide range of applications, from packaging and textiles to adhesives, glues, and battery anodes. By providing sustainable alternatives to fossil-based raw materials and virgin wood fibre, the technology advances resource efficiency, waste valorisation, and decarbonisation goals.
