New partnerships mark milestones for the Sustainability Showroom
Business Sweden along with the Swedish Energy Agency have secured partnerships with three of Indias top academic institutes and one large industrial group. The agreements expand the Showroom ecosystem as the three institutes now are academic and research partners to the Sustainability by Sweden Showroom in India.
Business Sweden has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. Also signed are Letters of Intent (LoI) with IIT Madras and IIT Bombay as well as a LoI with the Mahindra Group, manufacturer of motor vehicles.
The MoU with IIT Delhi was signed by Professor V Ramgopal Rao, Director of IIT Delhi and Ms. Cecilia Oskarsson, Trade & Invest Commissioner of Sweden to India to enhance cooperation around clean air and green energy.
Huge opportunities
At the signing ceremony, Professor Rao spoke about the need for clean energy that India requires to achieve its target pledged at COP26, among them to fulfil 50 percent of its energy requirement through renewable energy by 2030. He also spoke about the different start-ups incubated at IIT Delhi in various technology domains, which present huge opportunities for collaborations with the Swedish industry.
Ms. Cecilia Oskarsson spoke about the Swedish Triple Helix model of innovation that is used to foster collaboration between academy, industry and government. She also proposed academic exchange programs, cooperation with innovative solutions providers from Sweden and university level collaborations with IIT Delhi.
Clean water and smart grids
The LoI with IIT Madras is part of an endeavour to co-create innovative and sustainable clean water solutions and was also signed by the International Centre for Clean Water (ICCW). Alongside with the LoI with IIT Bombay, for collaboration in the area of smart grids and e-mobility, these three institutes have now become academic and research partners to the Sustainability by Sweden ecosystem and showroom in India.
Important milestones
These collaborations are best described as important milestones towards setting up a strong ecosystem of Swedish and Indian entities that will continuously work towards building a climate-neutral future for both countries.
Reducing carbon
With the LoI with the Mahindra Group, Business Sweden takes the leading Indian conglomerate onboard as an industrial partner. The LoI signed is for the development of a climate neutral and sustainable future, with the aim to introduce Swedish solutions to contribute to Mahindra’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.
