GITA 2013 to launch next phase of India-Sweden Innovations’ Accelerator
The gap between philosophy and practice is oftentimes the space for error. Sweden’s capacity for Innovation has been noted in India. India’s approach paper for the Twelfth Five Year Plan (2012–2017) has listed Sweden as one of the top global economies worth emulating with regard to Innovation processes and outcomes. India has declared 2010–2020 the Decade of Innovation, with both public and private sectors focusing on how to best harness innovation for growth and inclusive development. This provides the India-Sweden Innovation platform a strong facilitating environment for bringing together partnerships in technology, process and business models to leapfrog traditional growth pathways.
In response to this, the Swedish Energy Agency launched the first phase of its India Sweden Innovation Programme in November 2012 during the fifth India Sweden Nobel Memorial Week. Under the auspices of the Embassy of Sweden in India, and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, the Energy Agency’s Director General Erik Brandsma ushered in a new era of cooperation between the two countries.
In November 2013 the Innovation platform takes another step in its ambition of bringing implementation of technology solutions and partners together. At the Global Innovation & Technology Alliance 2013, in New Delhi, India, a two-year partnership, between the Swedish Energy Agency, the Government Offices of Sweden, Business Sweden and the Confederation of Indian Industries will be cemented. The India Sweden Innovations’ Accelerator will bring actors in India and Sweden together through webinars, online discussions, physical meetings, and business forums.
