MAKSUS Consortium

The overall aim of the MAKSUS Consortium’s efforts in the project is to meet the overall objectives of the Swedish Energy Agency’s micro-grid programme for the Andaman Islands and thereby contribute to development and conversion of existing energy systems in India to become more sustainable and accessible to all residents and users. This will be achieved through detailed analysis and concrete development of systems and technologies proposed for micro-grids in the Andaman Islands. Transfer of knowledge and experience from the project will also contribute to changes in the Swedish energy system towards increased proportion of locally produced and distributed energy.

The MAKSUS Consortium consists of a number of energy system solution developers as well as technology suppliers, altogether representing a wide range of possibilities, ideas and competences. In addition to introducing innovative technology and energy system solutions, the consortium has great knowledge and experience of both Swedish and Indian energy market, as well as a strong connection to Swedish universities.

The current study will result in a concept and proposal for a pilot micro-grid project in an Andaman island. The location is yet to be determined. The proposed project will include locally adapted systems, possibly including hybrid systems, waste-to-energy solutions etc., and systems with good potential to be replicated in India & Sweden. The project implementation will also put great emphasis on innovative sustainable circular energy systems.

The MAKSUS Consortium’s main features in the project preparation are as follows;

  • Introducing a viable solution and implementation focus, entrepreneurial approach
  • Action oriented implementation based on three main principles for development of sustainable energy systems;
    • … to be based on innovative yet proven Swedish technologies adapted to Indian conditions
    • … to consider the the final energy usage – not only generation of power
    • … to enable the mind setting of reduce, reuse and recycle in the development of sustainable energy systems
  • Project development enabling user and stakeholder based replicable, scalable solutions
